Meatloaf is a dish made from ground meat (usually beef, but it can also be made with pork, veal, or a combination of meats) that is mixed with various other ingredients, such as breadcrumbs, eggs, onions, and spices. The mixture is then shaped into a loaf and baked in the oven.

 

[1] Ina Garten's Meatloaf Recipe

- Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 cup chopped yellow onion
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 cup chopped carrots
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley leaves
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 extra-large eggs, beaten
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

- Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the beef, pork, onion, celery, carrots, garlic, thyme, parsley, breadcrumbs, eggs, salt, and pepper.
  3. Mix until well combined and place the mixture into a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce.

  • 2 cups finely chopped onion
  • 1 cup finely chopped carrot
  • 1 cup finely chopped celery
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh thyme leaves
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

- Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the onion, carrot, celery, and garlic and cook until the vegetables are soft, about 10 minutes.

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
  • Salt and pepper

- Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  3. Add the onion, celery, and carrot, and sauté for 5 minutes until softened.
  4. Add the garlic and thyme, and cook for 1 more minute.

  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper
